Peri-pocus, Hocus Crocus!

We went out to Clayton to visit Debi and Chloe today. All three kids are so shy (and we don't usually see each other frequently enough) that it takes most of the play date to warm up. I tried to piggyback this play date on the last one to keep them familiar. Seemed to work. Turned into a ticklefest rather quickly. Veronica and Thomas found it quite exciting to tickle Chloe and her friend. Chloe thought it was rather hysterical too!

All that tickling wore them out because I actually had to wake them up to get to the magic show tonight. Carolyn's church offers Wednesday night dinners, usually with a speaker and childcare. Tonight childcare was off the table for the magic show!

I knew Thomas especially would be interested as he has been spending up to a half hour at a time after a meal in his seat performing magic tricks with his cup and a napkin. His mentor is Periwinkle, the cat who likes to do magic tricks on Blue's Clues. I often hear Thomas chanting the magic words: "Peri-pocus, hocus crocus!"

The live show was a hit. Thomas was on the edge of his seat and clapping when it was called for. Veronica wasn't sure about it in the beginning. She wouldn't even join us up front - she chose to stay in the back with Carolyn. Eventually she came around to climb all over me and then settled into laughing some very hearty belly laughs at the show.

We stayed around long enough at the end for Thomas to go up to the magician and thank him for the show. He made their bellies squeak which thoroughly amazed them!
