Pa-sitively Grand

We got a surprise visit from Pa today. He happened to be in Indianapolis for a Genetics Conference. He finished around two and was able to get the kids up from their naps.

We headed to an early dinner (late lunch for him) and got some pizza. The kids wanted chicken so they were quite thrilled (with the idea) to get it on their pizza. Mostly full of bread sticks, we then took them to the library for Oogles and Googles giving a presentation to 2 - 4 year olds on cowboys and cowgals. Veronica clung to Pa but stayed interested. Thomas, on the other hand, kept a scowl, but clapped at every song. He warmed up to the presenter, Mr. Kevin, when he offered him a cowboy hat and let him ride his horse, Harry. Thomas was the only kid who was really interested in riding the horse and kept it with him through the whole presentation. He still shied away from most interaction - in fact, he laid down, face to face with the horse, for a good while - but still clapped after every song. The only time he was actually grouchy was when I decided to participate. "No, Mommy! Don't do that!" Fortunately Pa was allowed to participate - otherwise his sidekick, Veronica probably wouldn't have gone anywhere either!
