The Krings and I

Kay came over for another visit today. Veronica knew about it since last night. She woke up this morning talking about it. "Kay! Kay give me a sucker!" Made me a little nervous, but as the day wore on I Veronica made it clear that she was more interested in Kay than the suckers. "I want to watch Mary Poppins with Kay... I want to hold Kay... My Kay is coming."

They played super-well together today: making a sled (Thomas pulling a belt behind him while Veronica stood on it), taking turns walking on wooden planks in the neighborhood - each time their balance improved markedly!; reading to each other.

Closer to Kay's arrival, Thomas assured me Kay would be bringing suckers: "Kay bring me a sucker? [No Thomas, I don't think so.] Yes, Kay is bringing a sucker."

A half hour before Kay was to arrive, I told Veronica she was on her way. Veronica sat in front of a window happily for at least 20 minutes awaiting Kay's arrival. Kay brought surprises for us all: Emergen-C for the recovering Mommy and Daddy and chocolates for everyone! (chocolate covered Oreos for the kids and truffles for us)

After enjoying our corned beef and cabbage (finally!) and our chocolates, we shipped Daddy off for some time to himself while the rest of us enjoyed the King and I. The kids were really attentive to it. We made it an hour through before it was bedtime and their attention spans started to dwindle. Veronica's favorite word from the movie was "puzzlement," while Thomas was happy to mimic the gestures the King was doing.
