Today we celebrated cousin Julia's 4th birthday at a bouncy house place called Pump It Up. The party was from 2:30-4:30, so we thought we'd let the kiddos nap and catch the second hour. Turns out, the first hour was for the bouncy house and the second for the cake and gifts. Oops - we got there in time to jump on one or two things (get warmed up) and then force the kids out. Thomas recovered from his understandable melt-down when he realized ice cream was involved.
We enjoyed the afternoon following the party outside. Bubble blowing, helping Daddy mow... Somehow we ended up with a bag of the neighbors' grass clippings in our yard. Thomas spied it as we were sitting on the stoop blowing our bubbles. He leaned in closely to me and said very seriously, "Oh, there's a turtle. It's sleeping. Come on, let's go see it." We walked over to see the turtle. Veronica had to follow to see what we were up to. Then the climb-on-the-turtle game began, which turned into the sleep-on-the-turtle game.
At dinner while spearing strawberries with her fork, and during bath time while scooping up water with her cup, Veronica would repeated would tell us, "I'm working here!"After their bath, the work turned into climbing on Daddy.
