WKRP in Cincinnati

Water. Koasters. Relatives. Playmates.
Yesterday Aunt Paula treated us to an afternoon at Coney in Cincinnati. It started with some serious kiddie rides, progressed to the Tilt-a-Whirl (my vestibular system isn't as adaptable, or maybe not as naive, as it used to be!) and ended at the pool. At one point Thomas told Paula, "I'm so glad we came here." Thomas was quite interested in the water, but fortunately did not want to venture more than an arms length away from me. Veronica preferred to let the water lap at her toes at the graded entry.
Both kids enjoyed a LARGE ice cream cone that melted quickly in the 95 degree heat. I learned a few lessons:
1. Order the kiddie cones or lop some of the ice cream off in the beginning.
2. Don't order one for myself as I think I ate a whole cone while trying to keep their ice cream from drowning us.
3. Not ordering one for myself while needing to quickly lick drips on everyone's cone may have saved me a few ice cream headaches.
4. Eat the ice cream before taking the suits off - and then take another dip in the pool to wash it away.
5. Remind the kids they can't eat the cone until they eat the ice cream off the top. (The kids learned they could eat the cone. Big thrill.)
It was a progressive party which headed to the new Paula & Thaddeus Struck homestead. It was a very friendly B&B which included a delicious dinner, filling breakfast, and entertainment for the kids - complete with a bedtime story. They had a good time. I was told to go away often.
During the story, Paula was laying on her side across the bed. Veronica would lay on her side and then pull herself up to see if she was doing it exactly like Paula. She did this several times until she found the perfect position.
Veronica was given a hand-me-down nightgown with princesses on it. It was very special as I heard both of them talking about Cinderella before they fell asleep.

The next morning we headed to visit my friend Ann and her daughter Eleanor. The kids really started hitting it off about 10 minutes before Eleanor had to leave for her swimming lesson. We'll have to get there again soon.

Ann lived just about 10 minutes from Uncle Thad's work, so we got to share lunch with him - and then pick up some new train set pieces at IKEA. FUN TIMES!
