A Spoonful of Sugar

Another fun-filled day on the east side! This morning I headed out to Woodruff Place. It's a gorgeous neighborhood downtown. Most of the homes are three story and were built in the late 1800s. There are grassy medians in the streets with working fountains and original posts to which the owners would have tied their horses. They were having their annual flea market with live entertainment, fair food and yard sales as far as the eye can see! I was able to get some great finds for the kids while Judson walked the kids to our neighborhood McDonald's for breakfast. I don't know if they've ever eaten breakfast at breakfast time at a restaurant! They were more than happy to fill me in on the adventure when I got home. (And they smelled like syrup!)

In the evening we went to Madeline and Julia's dance recital. Both kids sat in awe for the first hour of the recital - Veronica with a blinkless stare and Thomas with perfect posture on the edge of his seat. A sucker got them through the last half hour. After a quick intermission they were pumped for the second half... a performance of Mary Poppins!!! It was an beautiful production that blended all ages and abilities. They were even more taken with this half of the recital, but were not quite as quiet or still. "Where's Mr. Banks?" Veronica yelled. "Where's Michael?" Thomas wondered loudly. They danced in front of their seats and sang along. They were quite disappointed when it ended - a total of 3 hours of production later. So, at 8:30 pm, we carted them to the lobby to meet our favorite stars, Madeline and Julia. And to meet the newest member of the dancing family... Emma.
